The andBeyond Phinda Rock Lodge has reopened in South Africa’s Phinda Private Game Reserve with a refreshed look . The lodge features an African adobe style, refurbished with an earthen, soft gray palette that marries raw naturalism with luxury and elegance courtesy of Johannesburg-based design practice Fox Browne Creative.
Public spaces have been redesigned with a combination of woven linen, hand-embroidered cotton, and Persian carpeting. A palette of oatmeal, gray, and stone spans the spaces, while windows in lounge areas are replaced with large French doors that open to the extended outdoor veranda. Outfitted with canvas shades, terraces have also been revamped to host al fresco dining. A new rooftop deck also serves as an outdoor dining option.
Accommodations feature similar upgrades, with enhanced access to their own verandas and views onto the valley below. Bedrooms echo the lodge’s color scheme and soft finishes, while overhauled bathrooms are clad with raw timber slabs and granite surfaces.
