Appellation Healdsburg is set to open this September in Northern California’s wine country.
The Sonoma County destination will mark the first ground-up property from culinary-first hotel brand Appellation, which was founded by Michelin-starred chef Charlie Palmer and luxury hospitality veteran Christopher Hunsberger.
The Appellation Healdsburg experience
Designed in collaboration with architect John Hill and EDG Design, the 108-key hotel will unfold across 8.5 acres that comprise two distinct neighborhoods connected by winding pathways through mature native landscaping, open-air gathering spaces, and abundant culinary gardens.
A pair of pools—the adults-only Serenity Pool and cabana-lined Foss Pool—complement 15,500 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space, the Terroir Spa, and an indoor-outdoor fitness studio.
Food at the forefront
The culinary experience begins upon arrival, with the lobby conceived as a residential-style entertaining space complete with chef-led tastings and pop-ups.
Check-in takes place at a kitchen-inspired butcher block counter, where guests are welcomed with seasonal bites and refreshments.
Appellation Healdsburg’s two signature dining concepts, Folia Bar & Kitchen and Andy’s Beeline Rooftop, were crafted to reflect the seasonal bounty and convivial spirit of Sonoma.
Landscape-inspired accommodations
Guestrooms and suites, ranging from 320 to 1,160 square feet, take cues from the region’s agrarian rhythm.
Designed to bring the outdoors in, each room features private balconies or terraces that frame vineyard or garden views. Layered natural textures anchor the interiors in a warm, tactile palette of golden ochres and earthy greens, while oversized windows bathe the spaces in natural light.
In the suites, amenities include open-concept living areas, soaking tubs, kitchenettes, and expansive outdoor lounges oriented toward the surrounding hills and pools.
Event spaces and programming at Appellation Healdsburg
The property features 11 event spaces, including the Grange, a barn-style indoor-outdoor venue anchored by an exhibition kitchen. An adjacent lawn accommodates up to 500 guests for larger events, while the Orchard Table, a more intimate setting beneath a canopy of olive trees, features a long live-edge table, private firepit, and vineyard views.
As part of its Crafted at Appellation program, the resort will also host more than 50 immersive workshops and classes annually—ranging from pottery and mixology to fermentation and foraging—inviting both guests and locals to explore the region’s creative and agricultural heritage.
“Chris and I have spent decades building a community in Healdsburg—the town we call home, and one defined by its farmers, vintners, and artisans,” says Charlie Palmer, cofounder and CEO of Appellation. “Appellation Healdsburg offers guests a window into what it is like to actually live here, whether that means rubbing shoulders with our neighbors over a glass of wine, perusing the downtown farmer’s market, or indulging in ingredients harvested just down the road.”
