Arquitectonica and Martin Brudnizki Design Studio have announced they will collaborate on the design of the forthcoming Mr. C Coconut Grove hotel, which is slated to open this winter. Set against the backdrop of Biscayne Bay in Coconut Grove, Florida, the project will mark the arrival of the Mr. C brand to Florida, which is operated by Ignazio and Maggio Cipriani.
“The hotel is suspended on sculptural stilts in the tree canopy of Coconut Grove,” says Arquitectonica senior associate Raymond Fort. “This design embraces the idea of the historic Stiltsville structures in Biscayne Bay that can be seen at a distance from the rooms and public spaces of the hotel.”
Interiors will be reminiscent of classic yacht designs, complete with high-gloss timber panels adorning the walls of the double-height lobby. Glass chandeliers will be suspended above large-scale, midcentury terrazzo flooring. A palette of soft and airy blue, white, and pink will complement the surrounding environment while reflecting a coastal Italian influence.
Boasting private outdoor terraces, the 100 guestrooms and suites are adorned with teak paneling in foyers. Tall, leather-upholstered blue and caramel headboards complement nautical-themed dressers, desks, and minibars, as well as handmade Italian furniture.
A ballroom will crown the hotel, while a sheltered event space will be installed on the ground floor to accommodate up to 720 guests. The indoor-outdoor Italian concept Bellini Restaurant and Bar will be crafted with an Old World style that recalls both coastal Italy and the soothing modern styles of Miami. Additional amenities will include a fitness center, a rooftop pool outfitted with a bar, and an indoor-outdoor lobby lounge.
