The Austin Proper Hotel & Residences is set to open in the Texas capital in January 2020. Boasting a design from famed New York-based furniture and interior designer Kelly Wearstler, the downtown property draws inspiration from the city’s craftsman-style homes, while paying homage to art nouveau.
In addition to the 244 guestrooms and suites, the hotel also features 99 luxury residences that will be for-sale. Featuring a restrained aesthetic through a rustic color palette, Wearstler crafted the space with a style influenced by the traditional arts and crafts culture of the city.
Overseen by the locally based McGuire Moorman Hospitality, the F&B concepts of the hotel include a Mediterranean grill and a café on the ground floor, two cocktail bars spread across the space, in addition to a poolside Mexican eatery anchored by a wood-burning grill. A full-service spa, fitness center, and nearly 10,000 square feet of meeting space are the highlights of the hotel’s amenities, while two swimming pools frame views of Lady Bird Lake and Austin skyline.
