Luxury camping company AutoCamp has announced the launch of Field Station, an inclusive lodging brand targeting the active outdoor community. Field Station will upcycle and renovate existing lodges and motels in prime outdoor destinations. The new concept’s maiden location is expected to debut in Moab, Utah next year. A location in Joshua Tree, California is also scheduled to open in 2023, followed by a Lake Tahoe unit in 2024.
“The success of AutoCamp inspired us to create Field Station to make it even easier for everyone to get outside, more often,” says AutoCamp CEO and founder Neil Dipaola. “We believe the world would be a better place if more people could experience the outdoors, so we’re on a mission to empower all people to get outside with greater comfort, ease, knowledge, and support. There are many exciting locations around the country that cater to adventurous travelers yet fall short in the hospitality category. Field Station transforms the outdoor lodging experience in an entirely new way to help connect even more people with nature.”
A synthesis of Scandinavian and industrial design aesthetics will characterize Field Station’s portfolio. Clean lines and open environments lined with raw materials will complement a utilitarian approach to outdoor discovery.
In addition to a pool and café, Gear + Bear will serve as the main social hub at each outpost, offering libations as well as a range of outdoor gear available for rental. Programming—from outdoor film screenings to classes on survivalist skills and sustainable stewardship—will also be hosted onsite.
Field Station properties will also comprise a variety of guestroom configurations, including king, double queen, bunk, and accessible rooms. Certain rooms will even feature Black Diamond Portaledges for guests to experience sleep in a hanging bed.
