Portugal-based firm box: arquitectos associados has unveiled guestroom renovations at the Azoris Royal Garden Hotel in Ponta Delgada on São Miguel Island. Influenced by the hotel’s Japanese-inspired garden, the architecture practice spearheaded a redesign focused on reticulated patterns and functionality.
Natural materials—including stone, steel, and wood line—upgrade accommodations to echo the garden’s aesthetic and establish a comprehensive vernacular across the hotel. Ocean views are framed via large French windows accented by velvet curtains in bright tones. From slatted credenzas to minimalist floor lamps, the new furnishings feature striking modern lines, which complement the linear pattern of the curtains. Bathrooms are ornately outfitted with veined-gray stone surfaces and detailed with brass and powder green fixtures to balance tone, density, and texture.
