Rosewood Beijing has opened, marking the debut of the brand in Asia.
“This hotel was envisioned as an unconventional haven and a distinctively different hotel encounter,” says Sonia Cheng, CEO of Rosewood Hotel Group. “We want to provide sophisticated guests the ease they feel at home, yet also a place where they can create their own journey to experience the authentic and unexpected Beijing.”
Led by Stewart Robertson of Melbourne-based BARstudio, the design mirrors the Chinese concept of journey and welcome. This concept is introduced with bronze Jiao Tu sculptures on either side of the entrance. A three-story-high lobby features art and calligraphy inspired by Chinese poet Bei Dao’s Rose of Time.
The hotel’s six restaurants and bars include the House of Dynasties, which evokes the dining experience once reserved for Beijing’s emperors. Inspired by a rustic Chinese village, Country Kitchen specializes in northern Chinese comfort fare. Red Bowl, Bistrot B, and MEI also make up the offerings.
