New York- and Paris-based design practice Be-poles has revealed its overhaul of a former farm property into Le Barn hotel. Located in France’s Forest of Rambouillet outside of the capital, the bucolic property takes cues from the country’s agrarian roots. The contemporary reimagining is characterized by rustic motifs ranging from timber furnishings to copper-toned walls.
The main building, once home to a sheep barn, now features a glass-backed bar that also serves as the concierge desk. A tiled fireplace anchors the lobby along with a forest-green sofa, large farm able, and a small library. The onsite conservatory functions as a living room space and the backdrop for the signature indoor-outdoor bistro La Serre, French for “greenhouse.”
Warm accommodations are spread across the property’s former grain stores, clad with earthy neutral tones and waxed cotton curtains. Early sketches of the Le Barn are fixed upon each unit’s cork wallpapered walls. A former mill houses the hotel spa, which is equipped with a hammam, sauna, and outdoor Nordic baths.
