The opening of the Blique by Nobis hotel marks the return of a Stockholm landmark originally designed by architect Sigurd Lewerentz. At the intersection of the city’s Hagastaden district and Vasastaden quarter, the hotel now serves as a launch point for the arts scene of the Swedish capital, following an architectural intervention at the hand of Gert Wingårdh.
The 249-room contemporary hotel exudes a high organic style without compromising the integrity of the original design. Concrete, steel, and exposed metal pipework complement an industrial-style ambiance in contrast to warmer elements like leather and oak alongside rich textures of velvet and wool. An airy and inclusive lobby serves as a space to host rotating performances and exhibitions that further bond the property to the community. Scandinavian and Italian furniture pieces populate the interior as well. Among the premiere F&B options is the subterranean Boketto restaurant and bar, while the hotel’s top floor houses the fusion concept Arc, which stretches out across the onsite terrace. A private, 20-seat cinema is also featured.
Defined by artisanal touches and efficiency, accommodations range from 100- to 700-square-feet with white terrazzo floors. Custom, open storage units are composed with steel tubing, while 58 studio suites are equipped with kitchenettes. A soothing palette of gray accents the industrial ambiance, offsetting wool carpeting and other timeless materials.
