The Bloomsbury hotel, located along Great Russell Street in London, is set to debut a major renovation from locally based firm Martin Brudnizki Design Studio later this month. Housed within a famed Sir Edwin Lutyens-designed building from 1928, the hotel’s facelift is part of a multimillion-dollar investment program for several properties in the Doyle Collection.
The hotel’s original side entrance has been restored with a new glazed canopy, while the original stone steps lead to a refreshed reception area. The intimate space is home to a Lutyens-inspired living room that encourages guests to unwind. A palette of muted green and pink hues accent a variety of furnishings, artwork, and lighting and instill a residential quality across the interior. Botanical wallpaper and a fireplace designed by Lutyens himself serve as fixtures of the double-height, 2,100-square-foot Coral Room, which also features a custom glass chandelier. Five bespoke chandeliers and 36 pieces of original artwork from illustrator Luke Edward Hall further inject a sense of luxury.
The onsite bar has also been upgraded with a new Calacatta marble bartop and a high-gloss, molded timber front. The back bar is appointed with an antique mirror and brass detailing to reflect the hotel’s heritage. Original wall panels and coral tones also reference the historic nature of the setting.
