The luxury 148-acre Swiss resort Bürgenstock Hotels & Resort Lake Lucerne has announced that two of its lodging concepts, the Bürgenstock Hotel and the Palace Hotel, will reopen at the end of August following extensive redesigns from London-based MKV Design in collaboration with a locally based practice.
Bürgenstock Hotel guestroom
The restoration of the Bürgenstock Hotel reinforces the natural setting with wood and locally sourced stone. All 102 guestrooms and suites will feature brass fireplaces and large windows that frame views of the lake and the Alps. American walnut parquet floors, oak cabinetry and furniture will also be installed, while marble bathrooms will be appointed with walk-in rain showers and double bathtubs. Accommodations will include 82 495-square-foot Deluxe and Executive Lakeview rooms; 20 785-square-foot Bürgenstock Senior suites; 985-square-foot Family suites; the 3,315-square-foot Presidential suite; and top-floor Katara suite, which spans 7,230 square feet and six bedrooms. Amenities will include the Lakeview Bar & Lounge, Spices Kitchen & Terrace, cigar lounge, private 66-seat cinema, wine cellar, and 5,382-square-foot Lakeview Ballroom and Foyer.

The Palace Hotel’s original wooden structure from 1904 was overhauled for a new exterior. A contemporary aesthetic will characterize guestrooms, complete with soft ivory and beige tones and oak-lined walls and floors for warmth. All 108 spacious guestrooms and suites will feature floor-to-ceiling windows and range in size from 312 to 419 square feet. The onsite restaurant Ritzcoffier will offer a 19th century-style French kitchen, complete with a fireplace from the late 1800s. Blue and white tiles will adorn the walls along with more than 100 copper pots. The Salle Palace and its foyer will provide an additional 3,552 square feet of event space.
