C. Baldwin, Curio Collection by Hilton has debuted in Allen Center, a mixed-use development complex in downtown Houston. Locally based Rottet Studio and Kate Rohe of Philadelphia-based Rohe Creative collaborated on its interior design, while Dallas-based architecture practice Morrison Dilworth + Walls partnered on the exterior curtain wall of the hotel with local firm, Tellespen.
Positioning itself as the social anchor of the revitalized Allen Center with the popular eateries and carefully curated local retailers, C. Baldwin aims to a blend hospitality, community, and cuisine in one. One of the already popular spots of the new hotel is restaurant Rosalie Italian Soul by chef Chris Cosentino, which is infused a midcentury-style ambiance elevated by a combination of geometric and organic forms by Kate Rohe.
The signature staircase and chandelier serve as key focal points of its the expansive lobby, where a grab-and-go coffee shop is also housed. All 354 guestrooms and suites of the property are wrapped with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city, while their walls are aadorned by the portraits of iconic Houston women and photography by artist Elizabeth Conley. Among the new hotel’s many amenities are also 11 unique and multifunctional event spaces, as well as a grand ballroom.
