The Hotel on Rivington in Manhattan’s Lower East Side has unveiled its new 3,500-square-foot eatery Café Medi. Spearheaded by executive chef Vincent Chirico, the restaurant offers Mediterranean cuisine catered to the neighborhood’s eclectic atmosphere.
Barcelona-based design firm Lazaro Rosa-Violan (LRV) led the expansive project, its first in the U.S. LRV infused the 90-seat dining room with an edgy and artistic quality to complement the bustling hotel. A floor-to-ceiling handpainted mosaic depicting the Peruvian myth about the celebration of feast and blessing assembled in Barcelona serves as the restaurant’s focal point. In addition to the sundrenched main dining room, guests can dine at a 20-seat outdoor café or the Crudo bar.
Café Medi debuts on the heels of the 12-year-old hotel’s recently launched nightclub JIA. Other recent upgrades for the Hotel on Rivington include a lobby redesign, a sleek second-floor lounge, and a revamped penthouse.
