Slated to open in April 2019, the innovative lodging concept Cannúa is poised to become the first boutique hotel set within protected forest in Antioquia, Colombia. The hillside retreat from Santigago Giraldo, Brian Schon, and Nathan Rodgers, seeks to foster a new sense of community in Colombia.

The 18-room property will be grounded in permaculture design principles that will facilitate a holistic approach to sustainability and complement an atmosphere of rejuvenation and reconnection. The project will aim to achieve zero-waste status with elements including onsite water treatment and waste management systems. Sustainably sourced bamboo and compressed-earth blocks will be produced onsite from the soil, while two acres of organic gardens will provide ingredients for the property’s F&B. Home to eight cabanas and 10 guestrooms, Cannúa will also feature a spa, café, and restaurant.
