The Capitol Kempinski Hotel Singapore has launched within the city-state’s downtown Civic and Cultural District within the architectural landmark previously known as the Capitol Building and Stamford House. Designed by Richard Meier, the hotel has opened as a key fixture of the luxury destination Capitol Singapore, which is home to a 39-unit residential tower, retail, and the Capitol Theater.
The revitalized property honors the colonial, Art Deco style of the original Victorian design while also injecting a contemporary elegance. Grandiose details are balanced with clean lines and geometric shapes that pay homage to the Art Deco flair of the early 20th century. Travertine limestone columns, high-gloss piano rosewood lacquered finishes and Italian marble floors contrast the warm, muted tones from champagne-colored wallpaper and Chengal wood flooring from the original structure. High corniced ceilings also make a dramatic statement as they welcome abundant natural light. In addition to the hotel spa and fitness center, the hotel is home to a lineup of flexible meeting and event spaces, from the 12-seat Private Room to the 220-guest, theater-style Salon.
Sophisticated, residential-style accommodations also feature lofty ceilings as well as intricate detailing such as lamps and cornices patterned to represent Singapore’s mascot, the Merlion. Nearly 50 configurations span all 157 guestrooms and suites. All variations boast luxe aspects such as spacious living areas, freestanding deep-soaking bathtubs, superlative audio systems, and an expansive work desk
F&B options will be rolled out onsite and at the adjacent Capitol Piazza in the near future.
