New York-based Champalimaud Design has unveiled new resort concept Halekulani Okinawa in Japan. Located within the idyllic Okinawa Kaigan Quasi-National Park, the property’s spacious, open layout maintains unobscured visual connections with the surrounding area.
Dual lobbies in Halekulani’s Beachfront and Sunset Wings, respectively, reinforce the influence of the ocean and also mirror Halekulani’s Hawaiian predecessor. Bespoke metal and glass light fixtures are suspended from slatted ceilings to illuminate organic design references.
Onsite F&B options include Kingdom steakhouse, Bar Spectra, and all-day eatery House Without a Key, which features travertine columns, oak floors, and woven metal panel walls.
Guestrooms and suites evoke tranquility through the Haleklani brand’s signature seven shades of white approach. White oak floors span each accommodation, accented by bespoke rugs and wood paneling. Meanwhile, warm white hues juxtapose muted brown and earthy stone colors in the suites. Handsome finishes punctuate furnishings, white oak floors, and slatted cove ceilings.
