Amsterdam-based design firm Concrete has once again collaborated with citizenM on two new properties in Amsterdam and Zurich.
Located in one of the historic corridors of the city within a red brick structure dating back to 1928, citizenM Amstel Amsterdam‘s exterior showcases a bespoke art installation by artist duo Freudenthal Verhagen across its eight main windows overlooking the canal. The ground floor is home to the 24/7 bar, canteenM kitchen, and the living room, which is punctuated with a ceiling and display system designed by artists Pinar & Viola.
All 88 guestrooms of the new Amsterdam outpost are appointed with the brand’s distinctive modular furniture, featuring artwork curated by Foam Editions, the gallery of FOAM Photography Museum in Amsterdam.
The 160-room citizenM Zurich, the brand’s first hotel in Switzerland resides in a transformed midcentury office structure. Across its façade is an art installation showcasing the portraits of 36 notable women of city’s history.
The interior retains original details like the staircase from the 1950s and includes brand signatures such as the living room, canteenM kitchen, and compact accommodations crafted for comfort with details like blackout blinds, Italian bedding, and artwork.
CitizenM is set to open in Geneva in 2020.
