citizenM has launched its new flagship location with the opening of the citizenM Tower of London. The eight-story property—the Dutch hotel brand’s second in London—sits opposite the UNESCO World Heritage Site and boasts a contemporary design and streamlined technology.
Featuring designs from Amsterdam-based firm Concrete, the 370-room hotel is clad with a façade of glass and limestone to mirror and blend with its surrounding neighborhood. The ground floor functions as the heart of the hotel, comprising five varied but connected spaces. Self check-in kiosks are oriented at the center of the lobby around small sapling trees, and beyond the lobby, a workspace is clad with custom communal tables stretching to an outdoor terrace furnished with red picnic tables facing an ancient Roman wall. Oversized shelves throughout the public spaces are filled with books and quirky objects, while cricket bats, antique riding boots, and silver sports trophies adorn the walls, conveying a sense of British heritage and humor.
The citizenM Tower of London also includes the traditional coffee and pastry spot coffeeM and grab-and-go, open kitchen space canteenM, which features a signature bar. Also making its debut is new retail concept collectionM, offering a series of travel accessories, books, and more. Guestrooms are outfitted with wall-to-wall windows and feature limited-edition artwork from Amsterdam gallery the Public House of Art.
The hotel’s top two floors are home to societyM, the brand’s eight meeting spaces, styled to convey a 1950s aesthetic complete with vintage typewriters, telephones, and Bakelite radios. And on the rooftop, is the cloudM bar with its wraparound, double-height terrace luxuriating in views of London’s skyline.
