citizenM inaugurates its second hotel in South Florida with the launch of citizenM Miami Worldcenter. The new property, which is the boutique hotel brand’s 30th global outpost, opens as part of a $4 billion mixed-use destination in the city’s downtown area.
Longstanding architecture partner concrete collaborated with Gensler on the hotel’s design, which pays homage to Miami through citizenM’s distinctive, vibrant lens.
A series of sculptures by Los Angeles-based art collective FriendsWithYou punctuates citizenM Miami Worldcenter’s curb appeal, initiating an immersion into eye-catching artwork that animates the interior as well. The brand’s signature black cabinet, which anchors the multifunctional coworking lounge, showcases a range of locally relevant objets d’art and even introduces a new, sinewy shape reminiscent of the waves crashing into the nearby beaches.
Amenities include an indoor-outdoor fitness center, rooftop swimming pool and bar, a 24-hour canteenM, and four spacious societyM meeting rooms as well.
Connected by a striking red staircase, the hotel’s two top decks nod to the city’s legacy as a cruise capital. “Our architecture is reminiscent of cruise ships thanks to the horizontal layering of the sun decks and horizontal solid lines define the floors, just like on a cruise ship,” says concrete founder and creative director Rob Wagemans, who also serves as creative director for citizenM. “Retro white-and-red-striped sun loungers, pastel-colored yellow and green sun chairs, and a red cabana-like bar reflect the vibrancy, energy, and style of Miami while maintaining the brand identity of citizenM”.
The hotel’s 351 accommodations echo the exuberance of its flexible public spaces, with bright and bold details as well as local artwork that instills a sense of place. “The smartly designed rooms ensure you have all the luxury you need for an affordable price,” adds Maarten de Geus, associate for concrete and project architect for citizenM Worldwide. “citizenM Miami Worldcenter stands out as one of the first citizenM hotels that powerfully combine business and leisure. In current times, the line between work and play is more and more blurred. citizenM Miami Worldcenter accommodates this hybrid experience: guests can make the most of their trip.”
