Framed by the Mediterranean Sea and rolling hills, Club Med Magna Marbella has debuted in the heart of Andalusia, Spain with a colorful and eclectic Spanish flair crafted by Parisian design firm Studio MHNA. The property serves as a sublime coastal oasis immersing guests in the setting through inviting outdoor environments and abundant daylighting. Most of all, the concept reflects the setting. “Each space has been designed to highlight the beauty of the Andalusian soul and its most outstanding aspects,” says Studio MHNA owner Marc Hertrich. “All the architecture and decorative motifs have been inspired by the crossroads of the Arab and Andalusian cultures over the centuries.”
The sumptuous reception area recalls Andalusian palaces with a showstopping centerpiece of greenery suspended from a skylight and descending toward a water sculpture. Contemporary variations of Andalusian and Arab design traditions are demonstrated through Azulejo tilework, sculptural, engraved wood, handsome marble and enamel, and refine embroidery.
Andalusian art serves as the muse for the F&B lineup as well. Malaga native Pablo Picasso is echoed across a vibrant mural that celebrates the regional artistic legacy. Sandy yellow hues and chestnut benches recall a horse’s coat in homage to the equestrian Royal Andalusian School, while flamenco is celebrated in a flamboyant red lounge. A lively Spanish market is also housed onsite, complete with a grocery store and wine cellar.
Totaling more than 9,500 square feet, the main swimming pool serves as another key social hub, lined with white deckchairs and daybeds accented with red shades and parasols. Meeting rooms feature soft green and terracotta tones, as well as a fireplace for a unique effect.
Ranging from 285 to 570 square feet, the resort’s 485 guestrooms and suites are adorned with a bold palette of azure blue, golden yellow, and fuchsia pink. Otherwise restrained, accommodations are conceived to embody tranquility as they reinforce natural views. “We wanted the clients to be welcomed in very comfortable, elegant, lively, and warm environments with a dreamlike decoration and narrative concepts,” Hertich adds.
