Commune Hotels & Resorts will debut tommie Hudson Square, the first location of its new tommie brand, this fall.
“tommie is designed for guests to choose what they deem essential in a hotel stay,” says Niki Leondakis, CEO of Commune Hotels & Resorts. “We believe that today’s travelers want beautifully and thoughtfully edited offerings. Guests are enabled and encouraged to author their own experiences and are given the freedom to select what amenities speak to them.”
Locally based architect Gene Kaufman will design the Manhattan property with AvroKO, also based in New York. Set in the former printing district, the 325-room hotel’s accommodations will include multi-functional furnishings, an open closet, an alcove bed, and expansive windows. Soft colors and natural light will complement solid walnut tabletops and handmade porcelain tiles.
A signature restaurant, meat & three, will be helmed by chef Harold Moore of New York’s Commerce restaurant.
Additional amenities will include a library that doubles as a meeting space, rooftop yoga, and a lobby lounge.
The brand will introduce its second location, a 250-room property, in 2016 in Manhattan’s NoMad neighborhood. Plans have also been made for future tommie developments in domestic and international markets.
