Corinthia Rome, the luxury brand’s first property in Italy, is now open in the former Bank of Italy headquarters on Piazza del Parlamento.
Originally built in 1914 by architect Marcello Piacentini, the monumental building served as a financial institution for much of the 20th century. Acquired by Reuben Brothers in 2019, the seven-story, 104,400-square-foot property underwent a meticulous, multi-year restoration. Original marble paneling, frescoes, and carved woodwork were carefully preserved, while new interiors by G.A Group introduce refined, contemporary layers.
Accommodations at Corinthia Rome
Corinthia Rome comprises a total of 60 guestrooms. Many of the 21 suites are shaped by the building’s original volumes and filled with natural light.
Signature accommodations include townhouse-style Campo Marzio Suites with stained-glass windows; the Chigi Suite, which features a rooftop terrace overlooking Rome’s rooftops and Parliament; and the Arte Suite, a sixth-floor residence designed with a collector’s sensibility. The Theodoli Heritage Suite occupies the former Council Chamber and retains original 1920s frescoes by Giulio Bargellini, while the Aurea Penthouse—complete with expansive terraces and balconies—offers a two-bedroom layout inspired by the Domus Aurea.
A culinary journey by chef Carlo Cracco
The hotel’s culinary experience is led by chef Carlo Cracco, marking his first restaurant venture in Rome. Ocra Bar channels the warm hues of Roman sunsets for cocktails and light fare, while Viride serves contemporary Italian cuisine inspired by gardens and seasonality. Piazzetta, meanwhile, animates the property’s internal courtyard with all-day dining rooted in traditional Roman dishes.
Wellness is housed within the building’s former vault, which has been transformed into a serene spa with three treatment rooms and two bathing pools. Developed in collaboration with 111Skin and Seed to Skin, the experience draws on Roman bathing traditions and nature-led therapies.
