New Orleans-based hospitality group LeBlanc + Smith has announced plans to develop its first hotel project, the Corsair Hotel, in the Big Easy’s historic Uptown. Slated to arrive in fall 2019, the property will reside within a historic Queen Anne-style mansion from 1891. Sara Ruffin Costello will oversee the interior design of the 15-room hotel, while John D. Gray will spearhead the landscape architecture.
The interiors will showcase 13-foot-high ceilings, hardwood floors, and original fireplaces. Overlooking St. Charles Avenue, each guestroom, including four suites, will feature custom and antique furniture, walk-in showers, and clawfoot tubs. Connected to a lobby bar, the restaurant’s signature indoor-outdoor restaurant will span 120 seats that each maintain a strong connection to the spirit of the surrounding neighborhood.
