Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) has grown even larger with the addition of the H Hotel Los Angeles, Curio Collection by Hilton, opening just steps from the airport terminals earlier this month. Denver-based Design Force Corporation drew inspiration from its location with a design scheme that aims to recreate the flight experience.
The hotel features a modern, industrial façade appointed with azure hues that accentuate the midcentury-style architecture. Eight art installations evoke flight, like the digital work “Blue Yonder” from Moodspace, which depicts the sky evolving over the course of the day. All 168 rooms include 11.5-foot-tall ceilings with windows that overlook the bustling airport. Lush paint and light, neutral tones add to an uplifting sense of hovering in the clouds.
The versatile Transfer Lounge serves as a living room-style space that doubles as a business center complete with luggage lockers, a refreshment station, and personal bathroom outfitted with a shower. In addition to a sunny and sleek 1,270-square-foot fitness center, amenities include the robotic butler service Hannah and venues such as the signature eatery Waypoint Kitchen, which is outfitted with navy and gold accents. The property is crowned with the open air rooftop deck H Overlook, which frames 180-degree views of LA.
