21c Museum Hotels is set to roll out its ninth boutique hotel and contemporary art museum concept in downtown Des Moines, Iowa as part of the forthcoming mixed-use project the Fifth. Slated for completion in 2021, the 40-story structure will serve as a key commercial hub, complete with a dine-in movie theater and two floors of creative office space. The 21c Des Moines will see the creative collaboration of New York-based architecture and design practice Deborah Berke Partners and Chicago-based design firm Solomon Cordwell Buenz, who will serve as the architect of record.
In addition to 7,000 square feet of gallery and cultural programming space, the hotel will house nearly 130 guestrooms, including the 2,500-square-foot 21c suite on the 40th floor. Amenities will include a spa, fitness center, yoga studio, dog run, 5,000 square feet of meeting space, and a terrace on the 12th floor equipped with bar and lounge areas. A chef-driven restaurant will also open.
