Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA) has announced that it will oversee the design of the forthcoming Dorsett Gold Coast. The hotel is slated for development within the Star Gold Coast integrated resort on Broadbeach Island in Gold Coast, Australia. Spread across 13 stories, the Dorsett Gold Coast will be the Hong Kong-based brand’s first Australian property upon its opening in 2022.
Drawing inspiration from the coastal setting’s unrivaled coastline views and lush vegetation, HBA will reinforce surrounding nature via a sophisticated-yet-laidback design scheme. Subtle botanical motifs will manifest in the form of custom carpeting, while abstract ocean wave patterns and underwater scenes will be found in lobby details, guestroom artwork, wallcoverings throughout the property. In the lobby, a stunning chandelier installation composed kinetic lighting and reflective materials will act as the main focal point. Each of Dorsett Gold Coast’s 313 accommodations will be populated with bespoke furnishings and unique light fixtures that establish a sense of place.
“Our brief was to create a fresh, sophisticated, and relaxing overall design aesthetic, which would not compete but blend perfectly with the beautiful coastline views of Broadbeach Island,” says HBA Atlanta partner Jacques Coetzee, who is serving as lead interior designer on the project. “We have ensured that everything is custom-designed and fabricated to give each guest a one-of-a-kind, memorable stay.”
