Tomorrow, Dream Midtown in New York will open two new F&B outlets—the Rickey and PHD Terrace.
Designed in-house, the Rickey is a craft cocktail lounge concept located next to the hotel lobby. Its name and design reference the eponymous 1900s cocktail. Brass and copper table lamps will embody a Steampunk quality with vintage pressure gauges, Edison bulbs, and perforated diffusers. Guests will find seating in a series of velvet sofas, chairs, and barstools that are set along a wraparound marble bar, while a covert DJ booth is located toward the back of the space.
Locally based Josh Held Design, in partnership with the Dream Midtown design team, conceived PHD Terrace, an indoor-outdoor rooftop lounge spanning multiple levels. Its opening follows in the footsteps of PHD Rooftop Lounge at Dream Downtown, located in the Meatpacking District. Reminiscent of a penthouse patio, the nightlife destination will host rotating DJs, weekly parties, and exclusive events.
An outdoor deck will seamlessly connect to a separate indoor lounge space on the hotel’s 15th and 16th floors. Guests will enter via a dedicated elevator that opens on a hallway where draping ivy vines line one wall and bark with gold leaf highlights the other. A palette of green, gold, and wood tones continues the effect within the lounge itself.
The entrance flanks an indoor bar with 3D gold ceramic tilework. Behind the bar, a large window lined in earthtone marble opens to serve the outdoor terrace during warmer months. Interiors will also feature mirrored light fixtures and tables, a wall of windows with brown leather banquettes, and three Octopus-like chandeliers.
An additional outdoor deck on the level above features oversized parquet flooring, wood banquettes, concrete tables, a bar clad in custom green, red, and off-white ceramic tiles, and potted plants and ivy for a garden-like feel.
