To celebrate its 10th anniversary, EAST Hong Kong has revealed plans to upgrade its 345 guestrooms and suites in order to establish a residential-inspired style that reflects of the brand’s four principles: “efficient, ergonomic, eco-friendly, and design excellence.” The hotel collaborated with local architecture and design studio CL3 to update the accommodations, and the project is slated for completion in the second quarter of 2021.
LED lighting, filtered water tabs, recycling bins, and hangers made of recycled paper will populate chambers to emphasize EAST’s commitment to sustainability. Functionality will also take priority in the form of new open floorplans that will include exposed wardrobes, moveable furniture, and well-equipped bedside tables. The work of Australian artist Rowena Martinich will be displayed above the headboard in each guestroom. The artwork, named “Incandescence,” features an orange color story that symbolizes the sun’s radiance and complements the hotel brand’s signature palette.
“EAST is a business lifestyle hotel concept originated from Hong Kong,” says CL3 managing director William Lim. “Our vision was to create a contemporary and modern design in the guestrooms that suits the changing scene in the world of business and travel.”
