Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced that a Hyatt affiliate, in partnership with PV Scottsdale Hotel Owner SPE, will open the first Andaz-branded property in Arizona with the Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Spa.
“It is exciting to see this resort property completely reinvented, and its opening will start a wave of openings for the Andaz brand [that] includes hotels in Ottawa and Palm Springs,” says David Tarr, senior vice president of development for Hyatt.
Located in Paradise Valley, the 22-acre property will overlook Camelback Mountain from its site nearby Old Town Scottsdale and Scottsdale Fashion Square mall.
San Francisco-based EDG Interior Architecture + Design will craft the 201-key resort with desert-inspired, midcentury modern interiors that pay homage to the area’s 1950s art scene, with influences such as Alexander Girard, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Paolo Solari.
Interiors and bungalow-style accommodations, to range in size from 350 to 500 square feet, will integrate folk art, cultural patterns, and bright hues. Arranged in groupings of six units, each guestroom will offer a private terrace, with some also featuring outdoor showers.
Amenities will include a pool and sundeck, a 12,000-square-foot spa facility, a fitness center, a glass-box-display kitchen with a plancha grill, a lounge to center on an open mixology hub, more than 20,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor function space, and the Andaz Salon—the brand’s signature cultural program—featuring interactive programming such as lectures and exhibitions, with local artists.
Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Spa will open mid-year 2016.
