Completed by Roslyn Cama of New Haven-based design firm CAMA, the multimillion-dollar, year long renovation of the Emerson Resort & Spa in Mount Tremper, New York, encompasses all of the guestrooms and public areas, and includes the addition of new restaurant Woodnotes Grille.
Inspired by the resort’s location in the Catskills, as well as its namesake, poet Ralph Waldo Emerson, the redesign features open spaces, large windows with expansive views, and a color palette of brown, blue, white, and green hues.
The various buildings housing the guestrooms, restaurant, lobby, and shops are painted different colors so that the property resembles a small village, while the lobby, great room, and other public areas have been given more spacious layouts with updated furnishings and hardwood floors. Guestrooms feature new furniture, light fixtures, oversized windows, and natured-themed original artwork created by more than a dozen local artists. Notable commissions for the lobby, hallways, and restaurants were given to Judy Pfaff, Alison Berry, Deborah Quinn-Munson, Elizabeth MacDonald, and Robert Alan Hyde.
Renovations are still underway in the spa, which is expected to debut this spring.
