Locally based Enota Architects has unveiled their 15-year redux of a 1980s-era health center in Slovenia into a relaxed, contemporary thermal spa, including several new buildings and a striking geometric roof structure. Found at the former site of the outdoor pool, the main new facility at the Termalija Family Wellness Center features a roof floating above the indoor pool sans supports, with skylights added to create a more open space and complement the glass façade. Rows of greenery on the sides of the pool help retain the indoor-outdoor feel.
The architecture team set out to improve the urban feeling of the entire complex with each new building, while also further connecting to the natural surroundings. The structure appears as part of the area’s topography while ensuring that guests leave relaxed year round.
