The Gran Hotel Montesol Ibiza in Spain will join Hilton’s Curio collection thanks to a franchise agreement with Grupo Avintia. The centrally located, 33-room hotel marks Hilton’s first property on the White Isle and the first Curio property in Spain.
Established in 1933 as a military barracks during the Spanish Civil War, the hotel is oldest on the island. The Spanish Ministry of Culture has recognized the building for its heritage and cultural significance, and many of its signature features, like the neoclassical white and yellow façade, will remain under the new branding. The hotel is approximately 6 miles from the Ibiza airport and a short trip to some of the island’s most picturesque beaches.
“With its fascinating history and elegant look and feel this landmark hotel is a sought-after addition to the Curio collection,” says Dianna Vaughan, senior vice president and global head for Curio. “The well-balanced synergy of the island’s legendary nightlife and its long history make Ibiza the perfect location for a Curio hotel.”
The majority of guestrooms will include private balconies overlooking Santa Maria d’Eivissa, the 14th-century cathedral located atop the town’s highest point of Dalt Vil. Views of the bustling central plaza, Vara del Rey, are also on view. A lobby restaurant will be housed on the ground floor, and a rooftop terrace can be used as meeting space. Spanish designer Lázaro Rosa Violán will spearhead interior restoration.
The Gran Hotel Montesol Ibiza joins 80 additional Curio properties, distinguished by their local historical and cultural prominence. It is set to open its doors this summer.
