A new precedent for opulence is set to arrive in Japan’s capital next month. The Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Otemachi is spread across the six uppermost floors of a new 39-story tower designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) and comprises 190 modern accommodations. The forthcoming hotel will serve as an elevated haven from the bustling city with interiors crafted by Denniston, under the direction of Jean-Michel Gathy, to evoke an origami-inspired sense of discovery via layered motifs.
Crowning the top floor of the hotel is the 9,700-square-foot spa, which will serve as the centerpiece of the hotel’s amenities. Developed by GOCO Hospitality, the spa will feature a range of private treatment rooms, a fitness center, indoor pool, vitality pool, as well as a number of heat and water facilities, including steam rooms, traditional Japanese bathing pools, and a unique heated lounger shower experience. A 3D fabric installation by Namiko Kitaura pays homage to fashion icon Issey Miyake in the lobby.
