The Knickerbocker Hotel, located on New York’s 42nd Street, is set to open its doors on February 12th, 2015. First opened in 1906 by John Jacob Astor IV, the 330-room Knickerbocker is the rumored birthplace of the original martini and the first hotel to offer a multidimensional lifestyle experience.
“The Knickerbocker will epitomize classic reinvented. We’re embracing the hotel’s original DNA, while simultaneously offering guests intuitive service and relevant luxury,” says Jeff David, the hotel’s managing director. “The Knickerbocker’s history is something that most luxury hotels cannot offer—no matter how strong the brand or address. By drawing inspiration from our past to create a lifestyle experience that is beyond typical luxury hotel amenities, the Knickerbocker will undoubtedly appeal to both local New Yorkers and international travelers.”
New York-based Gabellini Sheppard led the hotel’s design with interiors that reflect modern day functionality and contemporary design. All guestrooms, including 27 junior suites and four signature suites, will be in line with the sleek and updated aesthetic. Amenities include the Knick, the hotel’s full service restaurant and bar; Jakes at the Knick; and rooftop bar St. Cloud.
