Miami-based luxury hospitality investment and development company Gencom has acquired the Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Resort in Costa Rica. It is the real estate company’s second property acquisition in the region, following its purchase of the Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica, which will reveal an upgraded design in December. Gencom purchased the 1,400-acre Peninsula Papagayo in August 2016.
The 153-key resort spans 28 oceanfront acres, overlooking the Bay of Culebra. Designed by Costa Rican architect Ronald Zurcher, the open-air guestrooms and public spaces maximize exposure to the indigenous flora and fauna with optimal ocean and jungle views. Organic shapes and rich, natural materials further complement the tropical environment.
Amenities include two isolated beaches, separate adult and family pools, a 24-hour fitness center, and 8,200 square feet of flexible meeting and event space. The property is also home to a spa that accommodates nine treatment rooms, as well as three Latin American-style dining concepts with ocean kitchens.
