Picturesque Jenner, California hotel Timber Cove has reopened following an eight-month renovation from Gensler and Los Angeles-based design firm the Novogratz. Both firms collaborated on revamping the hotel as a tribute to Frank Lloyd Wright’s architecture and the 1960s.
The refreshed property now boasts 46 redesigned guestrooms with contemporary details influenced by the idyllic Sonoma coastal setting. In addition to forest, cove, or ocean views, each room features details like LP players, modern fireplaces, or original artwork from Jimmy Mezei, Jeff Canham, and Emily Nathan. The pervasive use of redwood and original stonework reflect the hotel’s “modern hippie” aesthetic, harmonizing with both modern and retro furnishings. Tribal textiles, white fabrics, worn leather, and preppy plaid also complement the interiors’ eclectic details.
Public spaces have also received upgrades, including the Great Room, which features a new entryway inspired by the hotel’s classic design. The refreshed Timber Cove bar is inviting, with original floor-to-ceiling fireplace still intact, while firepits and games are offered in the Outdoor Living Room. The hotel’s coastal side—home to the Coast Kitchen restaurant, complete with outdoor patio, and the Tasting Room—offers expansive views, event lawns, and a firepit overlooking the sea.
