New York-based design firm Bill Rooney Studio has unveiled its redesign of 130 guestrooms and suites at the Gild Hall, a Thompson Hotel in Lower Manhattan. The makeover features a tailored, classic style juxtaposed with modern elements.
Neutral accents of brown and taupe and a dark-stained trim define each room, while warm gray tones highlight a geometric-patterned accent wall, the bed’s tufted leather headboard, and camel wainscoting. Large windows are framed by flannel drapery to accentuate the scale of the rooms, and furniture and accessories, such as the custom magazine rack and bespoke midcentury lounge chairs, are also made of leather. Varied abstract photography by artists like Rajmohan Fotograf, Llewellyn Berry, and Tony Vazquez-Figueroa graces the walls.
Gild Hall’s six suites have also been enhanced. Midcentury modern furnishings and a neutral palette of tan and gray create a warm yet urban atmosphere in the penthouse. The suite can host events for up to 15 people and houses a bar, 12-seat dining area, lounge, and connecting room. Artwork from American photographer Slim Aarons is featured in the king suite, while a full bar, dark leather sofas, custom lounge chairs, and a standing clawfoot tub stand out in the Thompson suite.
