Glen & Company collaborated with Starwood Hotels & Resorts to design the new 261-room Four Points by Sheraton hotel in downtown Manhattan. New York-based architect Nobutaka Ashihara completed the structure; the project was developed by the Lam Group.
Glen Coben, founder of the New York-based firm, took inspiration from the streets of the Financial District. His design channels power brokers and the childlike thrill of walking into a banking hall for the first time. Reclaimed safe deposit boxes line one wall of the lobby, while an oversized black and white photograph of a giant safe door embedded in glass hangs on another. A ticker recreates the movement of stocks rising and falling. Custom-designed elements include wallpaper depicting stacked bars of silver, carpeting inspired by glen plaid suiting, and fabric-tailored furniture.
“The Financial District is one of the most iconic destinations in the world, and it was a lot of fun telling its financial story through design,” says Coben.
Features in the hotel include a full-service restaurant, two rooftop bars, and a fitness center.
