Once the home to James Bond series author Ian Fleming, and now owned by Island Records founder Chris Blackwell, GoldenEye resort in Oracabessa, Jamaica, has unveiled 26 new beach huts.
The new one- and two-bedroom freestanding huts are crafted by Jamaican architect Ann Hodges, while interiors by locally based Marika Kessler include custom Jamaican furniture and African fabrics, along with hues of blue, coral, green, purple. Designed as walk-in wet rooms, interior showers and bamboo-enclosed outdoor showers and tubs complement Hodges’ and Kessler’s contemporary aesthetic. Varying in height, each unit will include a private veranda and oversized louvered windows with views of the beach or bay. The high ceilings of the octagonal huts maximize cool breezes.
The beach hut area is located near GoldenEye’s new seafront bar Sha’been, which features a rooftop lounge. Additional expansions will include a game room, a freshwater pool, grill shack, drink stand, and a snorkeling cove where guests can explore the property’s coral reef and the Oracabessa Fish Sanctuary.
