The Grand Hotel Kempinski Riga has debuted in the Latvian city’s Old Town alongside the famed Latvian National Opera House. The 141-room luxury concept features designs from local architect Martins Hermansons of Studio Hermansons and Alex Kravetz of London-based AK Design.
Launched within the former Hotel Rome, the property’s original status as a social hub informs much of its new design. Appointed with contemporary wood furnishings, murals, French artwork, and polished marble floors, rooms range from nearly 400 to 3,000 square feet. Pastel tones also define the sunlit guestrooms, all of which overlook the Freedom Monument as well as the Opera House and city canals.
Among the onsite F&B options, an open kitchen anchors Amber Restaurant, while the rooftop eatery and bar Stage 22 features panoramic views. Event spaces include the grand ballroom, which accommodates up to 300 people, and the eighth floor Kempinski VIP room with floor-to-ceiling windows and a private terrace. The 14,000-square-foot spa spans the basement level, complete with four single treatment rooms, one double treatment room, and the Pirts suite, which reflects the style of traditional Latvian bathhouses. The spa also includes a fitness center and lounge.
