In partnership with Trockland Development Group, Hard Rock International is set to launch its first hotel in Germany with Hard Rock Hotel Berlin Checkpoint Charlie, slated to open in 2020.
A 372-room hotel inspired by local music history, the property will be centrally located in the Mitte district, adjacent to the iconic Checkpoint Charlie, on a site where the Berlin Wall once stood. It will be part of a larger mixed-use property by Trockland. The two plots, together spanning more than two acres, will feature retail components, offices, residences, and a curated exhibition space commemorating Checkpoint Charlie and the Berlin Wall.
“The Hard Rock Hotel brand’s presence in this project not only reflects the area’s young and lively character, but also the musical freedom message that is embedded in the culture of Berlin,” says Heskel Nathaniel, founder of Trockland Development Group. “Our task is to incorporate this spirit into the concept of the complex and its architecture.”
Inspired by the city’s rock revolution and punk scenes, the property’s design will center on authentic memorabilia, local history, and live music events. A section of the original Berlin Wall, for example, will take center stage, along with a Hammond C3 organ from Britannia Row Studios that was used by Pink Floyd while recording The Wall album.
Amenities will include a rooftop pool and lounge, a contemporary Hard Rock Cafe, the Body Rock workout facility, a Rock Spa, Rock Shop retail outlet, approximately 10,441 square feet of ballroom and meeting space, and the Sound of Your Stay music amenity program, which will allow guests to check out a Fender guitar.
The company also recently announced the development of Hard Rock Hotel Atlanta, which is scheduled to open in the spring of 2018.
