HBA has unveiled its $60 million renovation of the Hotel Nikko San Francisco as part of its 30th anniversary celebration. The new contemporary design honors the Nikko brand’s Japanese heritage with fluid lines of a traditional kimono spanning 405 of the 533 guestrooms and suites, while structural improvements were made to public spaces. The onsite eatery Anzu has made its debut as part of the redesign, spearheaded by Swiss F&B director Philippe Striffeler.
Airy and bright accommodations now bear a relaxed, earthen color palette. Living spaces have been outfitted with deep-seated sofas, plush carpeting, and quality fabrics, while bathrooms are clad with parquet floors, soaking tubs, and oversized showers. The hotel’s 6,652-square-foot ballroom on the third floor has been revamped as well with new focal points that include tall metal-cut wall screens with modern Japanese details. Also emphasizing the height of the venue, crystal droplight chandeliers anchor the ceiling. The sunny pre-function area is punctuated with contemporary art-inspired fixtures and furnishings like copper-finished tables, gray marble worktops, and inviting armchairs.
The hotel is home to 20 flexible meeting rooms spread across the 25th floor. Basking in city views, the rooms are updated with optimal audio-visual equipment. Also upgraded is the 140-seat bar and music venue as well as the 10,000-square-foot fitness center, which is home to indoor pools, steam rooms, and dry saunas.
