Set outside of Auckland, New Zealand on 800 acres of coastline with four private beaches, Helena Bay lodge is set to debut in November. The European Colonial-style property will feature two luxury guest villas and a main house.
One of the two villas will offer two 1,450-square-foot suites while the other houses three 700-square-foot junior suites. The main house will serve as the social hub of the property, with a gallery, library, restaurant, and bar and lounge area. The spa wing will provide an array of wellness necessities including a gym, sauna, steam rooms, a massage room, and cold plunge pool.
Interiors draw inspiration from the native Maori culture, and are appointed with decorative ceiling beams, ornate furnishings, and a slew of chandeliers. Art Deco-style furniture from leading European manufacturers fills each room, depicting a motif of fern leaves and floral ornaments. The main gallery welcomes guests with a series of crystal pendants finished by a grand oval crystal chandelier and a sloped ceiling crowned by a cascade chandelier. Ornate custom fittings from Nottingham, UK-based studio Philip Watts Design are featured in the library, dining room, and main entrance doors.
Maintaining a strong connection to the local environment, the resort’s halls and rooms all include entries and exits through open terraces to convey a seemingly endless landscape. Artwork has also been selected to set the mood of the interior, which is framed by natural bay views. A series of woodburning fireplaces as well as an open-hearth firepit in the courtyard add an element of coziness to the grand space. An 82-foot-long freshwater pool and infinity waterfall is set at the center of the courtyard.
The property additionally features a tennis court, hiking and biking trails, and an alpaca, donkey, and Wagyu cattle farm.
