Hilton Worldwide has acquired Rapid City, South Dakota’s historic Hotel Alex Johnson, now part of the Curio – A Collection by Hilton portfolio.
Located downtown, the newly rebranded Hotel Alex Johnson Rapid City, Curio Collection by Hilton has hosted several U.S. presidents, celebrities, and dignitaries since being built in 1928 by railroad mogul Alex Johnson.
The landmark Midwestern property is within walking distance of a famous regional art gallery and also nearby Mount Rushmore and the region’s iconic Black Hills.
Late 1920s local art references the 143-room boutique hotel’s history and is juxtaposed with restored brick and handpainted Sioux designs in the lobby that pay tribute to the area’s Native American culture.
Amenities include a newly renovated fitness center, Paddy O’Neill’s Irish Pub, the rooftop Vertex bar, and 8,000 square feet of meeting space with a grand ballroom.
