The Hotel Chicago has debuted in the city’s West Loop/Illinois Medical District. The independent 117-room boutique hotel is situated between the Illinois Medical District and Restaurant Row, catering to hospital visitors, students, and travelers to the area. The hotel was launched by financier Joe Perillo of Perillo Auto Group, who oversaw much of the hotel’s design, and Helmut Horn, president of Portfolio Hotels & Resorts, which will manage and operate the property.
“When we began this project over three years ago, our intention was to create a cross-generational home away from home for families with loved ones nearby at the hospital,” says Perillo. “Since then, the growth of the West Loop has caused us to slightly adjust our strategy. We ended up fashioning a European boutique hotel, with all the amenities of an extended stay mini apartment, in order to appeal to savvy travelers.”
Guests are greeted in the modern lobby by a glass chandelier and white walls with a glass backdrop, and original artwork from Horn, who is also a photographer.
