Topeka, Kansas is set to receive its first boutique hotel with the forthcoming arrival of the Cyrus Hotel. Slated to open in January 2019, the new Aparium Hotel Group property will comprise a modern, new-build structure with historic buildings in the city’s newly revitalized downtown corridor.
The collaborative design from Chicago-based design firm Avenir Creative and locally based practice Architect One embraces contemporary luxury with a dash of Midwestern charm. An earthy color palette infuses warmth throughout the hotel, which is named for Civil War hero and Transcontinental Railroad pioneer Cyrus. K. Holliday, who is honored beyond his name in striking patterns inspired by the prairie landscape and the military career of the hotel’s namesake. The flagship bar and restaurant the Weather Room serves a modern and eclectic steakhouse, rounding out amenities like a 24-hour fitness center.
