Slated to debut this fall in California’s Palm Desert, the Hotel Paseo will arrive as the latest member in Marriott’s Autograph Collection. The first luxury property to open in the region in nearly three decades, the hotel will integrate the natural beauty of the desert oasis with a midcentury-inspired aesthetic.
Guests will arrive beneath the angular porte-cochère, which recalls the desert’s retro single-story homes. A rotating art gallery in the lobby infuses the neutral setting with color, while a custom, glassblown chandelier from Jesus Garcia will add drama. A backyard lawn will feature a pool and spa as well as a three private cabanas, a poolside cabana bar, performance stage, firepits, and gaming. Three of the guestrooms adjacent to the spa will boast an open bathroom-bedroom concept complete with a freestanding soaking tub.
Featured among the hotel’s 150 rooms will be nine specialty suites and a 25-foot-long vintage Airstream trailer from the 1950s fully restored and furnished by David Winick. All guestrooms will be clad with soft hues of gray, white, and light blue, offset by vibrant local artwork. Many will be equipped with private balconies overlooking the mountains and valley palms. Select signature suites include the pool table-clad Billiards suite and the boardroom-style Grand Desert suite.
Included among the onsite event spaces will be the 3,200-square-foot Grand Paseo Ballroom, which can be divided into two separate venues. Glass doors allow for seamless connection to the 2,000-square-foot event lawn. The hotel’s signature restaurant AC3 Restaurant + Bar, conceived by the AC3 brand’s in-house team, features high ceilings, warm woods, and pops of color. An expansive U-shaped bar will anchor the interior, while the large back patio—punctuated with firepits— will frame views of the San Jacinto Mountains. Work by artist Nicholas Kontaxis also will be showcased.
