InterContinental Hotels & Resorts has planted a new flag in Japan while also celebrating the return of its outpost in Scotland.
The ANA InterContinental Beppu Resort and Spa has debuted in Japan’s Oita Prefecture, as the nation’s first international luxury resort. The property reflects an influence of regional traditions combined with a contemporary design.
A gallery-like lobby with bamboo artwork , ancient pottery, and striking wooden furniture welcomes guests. Bamboo is prominently featured in all 79 guestrooms and 10 suites, alongside natural wood and marble. Suites and Club rooms are equipped with open-air terrace baths that overlook Beppu Bay or the Ogiyama mountains. Oriental medicinal practices of Japanese culture serve as the inspiration at the HARNN’s Spa, which accommodates five treatment rooms and an outdoor garden crafted by Beppu stones. There are five F&B options are located at the hotel too.
The InterContinental Edinburgh – the George has reopened its doors, following a multimillion-dollar refurbishment to its 240 guestrooms and suites, and the coffee concept, Burr & Co. Housed within a restored 18th-century Georgian townhouse, the hotel is lined with a range of opulent natural materials like oak, marble, and leather that complement a palette of tones inspired by 19th-century Scottish landscape painters.
