JOI-Design, the Hamburg, Germany-based firm, recently completed the reconstruction and design of a new VIP lounge at the O2 World Berlin.
Meant to resemble an exclusive members’ club in the 1920s, the design of the Diamond Ball.Room merges compact private stadium boxes into an entertainment hub. With a palette of gold, platinum, cognac, and ebony, the venue looks directly onto the O2 arena.Â
The Diamond Ball.Room can be used as either one single space, and for smaller events it can be divided into two distinct places with their own entrances. Screened from each other by a black velvet curtain, the halves—Vodka and Champagne—feature different design elements.Â
In the Vodka side, silver highlights and clean, angular lines suggests the shape of ice cubes, while in the Champagne side, iridescent golden accents and soft curved forms recall the space’s namesake.Â
An angular form and leather fascia washed by recessed down lights characterize the Vodka section. Contemporary wingback seating in tawny tones and leather club chairs are grouped around glazed cocktail tables crafted with angular chrome bases. A pewter-toned banquette in a zigzag shape and round charcoal colored poufs reinforces the modern flair.Â
The Champagne space boasts chesterfield sofas upholstered in tobacco-colored leather, tufted ottomans tailored with classic dark gray wool, and round tables made from walnut-toned timber slabs. A diamond pattern is echoed though the leather panels that line the front of the bar.
