Strategic Property Partners has announced that the $3 billion Water Street Tampa development in Florida will include a JW Marriott, slated for arrival in 2020. The property will span 519 rooms across 26 stories and will be located adjacent to the existing Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina, which is currently undergoing renovations. The complex’s designers—Coral Gables, Florida-based Nichols Brosch Wurst Wolfe & Associates (NBWW) and New York-based Champalimaud Design—will also assist with the design of the hotel.
The hotel will be outfitted with 100,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including the city’s largest ballroom, which will total 30,000 square feet. All amenities and social areas will be spread across six levels, while a four-story atrium will punctuate arrival on the ground floor. The sixth floor will be home to an expansive spa and fitness center as well as an indoor-outdoor restaurant, bar, event lawn, pool, and sun terrace. A lounge and terrace will also open on the rooftop on the 26th floor, which will frame panoramic views.
